Thunderbirds Recap

A fun game to watch, with the T-birds playing in their new home in Kent, WA, which is a real nice location and family friendly. The T-birds won, though they were out skated a bit by the very fast Portland Winterhawks (whose Jersey's look just like Chicago's making them easy to root against). But they are a very physical team and won the battles on the boards. Interestingly, I got to see the first Indian hockey player I've run into, a 19-year old from BC named Prabh Rai, who looks like he might have potential to make it into the big league. Very fast and nifty skating and puck handling, he had 4 points on the night and his first goal had him carry it end-to-end through 4 defenders to beat the goalie one on one. Awesome. Interestingly enough, I believe there is also a Native-American player for another sign of increasing hockey diversity. Anyway, fun to see junior leagues and know that you may see some of them in the NHL some day. The T-birds number 1 goalie is only 16 but has been playing very well. The best goalie in the WHL 2 years ago? A guy named Carey Price. So yeah, anything can happen.
